Regter Mohamed Navsa en twee kollegas het in die appèlhof bevind dat die vonnis van 30 jaar wat opgelê is aan die Thaise renosterhandelaar wat vals inligting gebruik het om jag- en uitvoerpermitte te verkry, te swaar is en boonop mense skok, daarom is dit na 13 jaar verminder.

Judge Mohamed Navsa and two colleagues determined that the 30 year sentence against  the Thai rhino trader, who used false information to obtain hunting and export permits, was too heavy and that it shocked people, therefore it was reduced in during the appeal hearing, to 13 years.

Vier jaar nadat die mensgemaakte eiland in die Kamfersdam, Kimberley, onder rioolwater en reënwater verdwyn het, is die eiland uiteindelik weer pienk van al die kleinflaminke wat weereens daar kom woon.

Four years after the man made island in the Kamfersdam near Kimberley disappeared under  sewage and rain water,  lesser flamingos can finally repopulate the island again.

Twee nuwe motspesies is deur prof. Renzo Perissinotto en sy span van die Nelson Mandela Metropolitaanse Universiteit ontdek of Erfenisdag, die nuwe spesies heet: Stenoglene perissinottoi en Sternoglene clucki van die familie Eupterotidae (aapmotte).

Two new moth species were discovered by prof. Renzo Perissinotto and his team from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University on Heritage day, the new species are: Stenoglene perissinottoi and Sternoglene clucki of the family Eupterotidae.

Die Nasionale Dierebeskermingsvereniging (NDBV) het twee klagte teen Sandhurst Safaris en Elephants of Eden ingedien rakende die verwydering van vier olifantkalwers uit die natuur asook die wreedheid waaronder hulle op die oomblik glo ly in die Oos-Kaap, die departement van omgewingsake beweer hulle kan nie die klagte aanspreek nie, omdat hulle nie beheer oor olifante in aanhouding het nie.

The NSPCA laid two complaints against Sandhurst Safaris and Elephants of Eden concerning the incident where they removed four elephant calves from their natural habitat and the fact that they are now keeping them under cruel circumstances in the Eastern Cape, the department of environmental affairs has not pursued these complaints.

‘n Ingevoerde Duitsekorthaar appoteerhond is saam met sy eienaar se bakkie uit die parkeerterrein van Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria gesteel, die hond is opgelei in spoorsny en word gebruik om renosterstropers op te spoor.

An imported German short haired pointer, was stolen with its owner’s bakkie from the parking lot of Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, the dog is trained in tracking and his job is to track down rhino poachers.

‘n Grootwildjagter, sy vrou en broer, ‘n prokereur van Pretoria, ‘n lid van die Valke en ‘n vlieënier is ses van die tien beskuldiges, wat op aanklag van 318 sake, wat onder andere verband hou met renosterstropery, diefstal en geldwassery, in die landdroshof in Hatfield, Pretoria verskyn het.

A big game hunter, his wife and brother, an attorney from Pretoria, a member of the Hawks and a pilot makes six of the ten accused, who appeared in the magistrate court in Hatfield, Pretoria on 318 complaints regarding rhino poaching, theft and money laundering.

Drie werknemers van SANParke is weens renosterstropery in die Krugerwildtuin gearresteer, nadat hulle in besit van ammunisie, voertuie en stropingstoerusting gevind is in die omgewing van ‘n vars renosterkarkas.

Three employees of SANParke was arrested on charge of rhino poaching in the Kruger National Park after they were found with ammunition, a vehicle and poaching equipment in the vicinity of a fresh rhino carcass.
